About Estonia

Estonia

Estonia is beautiful country located in the East part of Europe, surrounded by Russia in the east, Latvia in the south, Gulf of Finland in the north and the Baltic Sea in the west. It is the smallest country in the Baltic states, but has a lot interesting places to see, sounds to hear and something special to feel.

Estonia is a low, flat country covering 45,226 square kilometers. It is about the size of Vermont and New Hampshire combined. Estonia has a long, shallow coastline (1,393 kilometers) along the Baltic Sea, with 1,520 islands dotting the shore.

The two largest islands are Saaremaa (literally, island land), and Hiiumaa. The two islands are favorite Estonian vacation spots. Estonia is covered by about 1.8 million hectares of forest. Arable land amounts, meadows, more than 1,400 natural and artificial lakes in Estonia. The largest of them, Lake Peipsi (3,555 square kilometers). The Narva and Emajõgi are among the most important of the country's many rivers. Most of the public beaches are sandy and the average water temperature is 18°C in summer. Inland waters and some shallow bays' waters are even warmer.

The weather in Estonia is largely dictated by its closeness to the Baltic sea. In the summer the skies are blue and temperatures can reach 30° Celcius and the summer average is a very pleasant 16.4°C. In summer there can be 19 hours of daylight, known locally as the “white nights”. Light rain can fall in spring and autumn so bring an umbrella and waterproof jacket. In winter the rain turns to snow when the temperature drops below zero (ideal skiing weather, great for sledging and building snowmen too!) – so wrap up warm.
Some winters its even possible to drive on the ice roads constructed between the islands. Cool breezes from the Baltic sea moderate the climate in spring and summer.
Estonian language is unique. The role of vowels in Estonian is among the greatest in any European language, whereby a string of vowels can form meaningful words around the frame of few consonants. Some people talk in Russian and English, that’s why it is easy to travel here.
Estonians are proud of their culture, because they really have a great reason. Estonian composer, Arvo Pärt, painter Jüri Arrak. Estonians can equal their brilliance but what they can all do is sing. You can hear thousands of their voices roar across the Song Festival Grounds on the outskirts of Tallinn. Estonia has four opera houses around the country and numerous music related events and festivals all year round. Also, there is many artists like Viljandi, Evald Okas. Estonia Sports are cricket, badminton, tennis, chess, swimming, football and ice hockey. But science is in the first place for them.

Hotel facilities in Estonia are also high. A good choice for conference tourism. Estonia has great SPA, treatments, sauna, water parks and much more activities, what you can choose, for example snowmobile ride.

Come to Estonia, because there are so many places to visit and activities to choose and beautiful nature to explore. Find your interests in this map.
